The Price of Chaos
Dread Hounds are predatory, pack-hunting manifestations of pure Discord. Known as highly aggressive "Blighters," these feral beasts are a primary target for Lodgesworn Rangers, specialized in ambushing unsuspecting travelers at the tree lines of isolated clearings.
Massive, quadrupedal beasts that grow significantly larger than the domesticated training variants kept in the Lodge reserves. They feature dense, meaty flanks and heavy, powerful snouts capable of easily pinning an adult combatant to the ground. Their dark fur possesses a passive hum that actively vibrates the surrounding ambient air, and their faces are permanently locked in horrific snarls.
Their snarls are intensely disruptive, capable of tearing through the local atmosphere and fracturing Chaos currents in the immediate vicinity.
When attacking or distressed, their wails emit a high-voltage energetic frequency that violently rattles a Ranger's active Draw, threatening their internal stability and risking catastrophic overload.
As pure constructs of spatial corruption, they leave no baseline physical biological remnants upon termination. When slain by Heartmetal or Artificer steel, their localized Discord footprint simply extinguishes.
Dread Hounds are deeply feared by the civilian population of the setting, serving as the terrifying subjects of traditional folk tales and dark children's costumes during the Day of Disharmony. Within the hierarchy of the Bastionic Lodge, they are recognized as lethal pack trackers that use natural environmental camouflage to execute synchronized traps against Ranging squads.
