Behind the Chaos
Creator & Writer
Weaving dark urban fantasy where systemic order clashes with the beauty and danger of wild magical chaos.
By trade, I am a software developer, spending my days building logic and systems out of code. But by heart, I have always been a captive of deep, immersive fiction. A lifelong lover of fantasy books, I have always been drawn to stories that do more than just entertain—I love the ones that make you truly care about the characters and leave you utterly immersed in their world. To me, there is no greater magic than the fact that someone can sit before a blank page, write down a few words, and suddenly transport a reader to an entire universe built from nothing.
When I’m not writing or coding, I am a proud husband and father of two. We live in Northeast Ohio near Lake Erie—where between family life, distance runs, and the occasional moment of quiet, the stories take shape and find their way onto the page.
I didn't start out as a writer. I was just someone with a lifelong love for deep, immersive fiction—the kind of sprawling epic stories found in The Lord of the Rings, The Wheel of Time, The Dark Tower, or Harry Potter. Because of those books, I always knew in my heart that I wanted to try writing a series of my own in my lifetime.
But as life happened, and particularly after having kids, things didn't exactly get any easier. Free time evaporated. Worse yet, I didn’t have some sudden stroke of genius or a brilliant, fully formed idea to kick things off. For a long time, I figured that maybe I just wasn't a creative person, and that was that.
Eventually, I reached a point where I just said screw it. Was a lack of time, skill, and immediate inspiration enough of a reason to give up on a lifelong dream? Even if it felt a little foolish to start with nothing, the answer for me was an easy no.
So, I woke up before sunrise, sat down, and forced myself to write about the most generic fantasy concept I could think of: two kids enter a cave filled with monsters to find something.
Over the course of nearly three years, those two kids eventually became Price and Beatrice. And out of that simple, generic cave emerged The Price of Chaos, along with an entire web of interconnected threads and backstories I never could have anticipated.
I’ve always been drawn to stories involving magic, but during this process, the concept of Chaos as an ever-present energy kept pulling me in. Exploring it through fiction has actually helped me navigate the crazy, unpredictable world we all live in today. If you’ve found your way to my corner of the internet, I sincerely hope that my passion project and these crazy ideas can give you a little bit of that same escape and grounding, too.
