Overview

The Black Books of Discord, historically known as the "great triumvirate" or the Unholy Triad, are a legendary collection of ancient texts that codify raw Discordant power. Long buried, shunned, and dismissed as heresy by the mainstream Chaosmatic community, the texts present a fundamental and dangerous inversion of standard Chaotic philosophy.

Appearance & Manifestation

Each tome is bound in a heavy, highly distinct black cover. When displayed formally, they are arranged on separate raised pedestals, with the fourth master volume — The One Book — resting on a higher, central crown pedestal above the Triad.

Key Traits & Rules

The Akanonikon — The Book of Rule

Rejects the Chaosmatic belief that rule and order are born from pure Chaos. It asserts that "Order" is merely a cage built by the weak to limit the powerful, and dictates that true rulership can only be achieved by commanding Discord.

The Aboulikon — The Book of Will

Declares that concepts like personal freedom and self-evident truths are phantoms — clever tricks designed by masters to keep servants content. It states that true leadership only begins once a soul embraces absolute helplessness.

The Analethikon — The Book of Truth

Posits that tracking objective truth within the shifting soup of existence is a fool's vanity. It defines "Reality" as nothing more than a temporary consensus of lies, treating all alternate paths as treachery and mirrors.

The Brittleness of Separation

While the Triad codifies immense, raw power, the books are structurally brittle and disjointed when kept separate from one another. Their full destructive potential cannot be realized without unification.

The Anchor Principle

The entire system relies on a fourth master volume: The Book of Bealthamon — The One Book. Described as "Discord given flesh," this book acts as the literal weight that lashes the Triad together, transforming three brittle fragments into a unified, catastrophic whole.

The Erosion Clause

Lore dictates that if a practitioner of sufficient capability bears the combined weight of the Unified Triad, the concentrated Discord will solidify and steadily erode ambient Chaos until nothing remains but a permanent, absolute Discordant peace.

World Context

Within the modern City and Lodge frameworks, the Unholy Triad is treated as a dangerous myth or an extinct blight. Mainstream Channelers consider the books entirely lost to antiquity — taboo relics from a dark era safely out of reach. However, underground elements and dark-market presenters claim the books possess an organic, unpredictable habit of materializing in the real world exactly where they are least expected. Their hidden existence remains a source of deep, systemic anxiety for the political elite of Capitol City, who fear the philosophical exposure of the texts to the current generation of young practitioners.
